Agate Signet

Carved from a single chunk of black agate into this simultaneously ancient and modern rectangular signet style. The rectangle measures 1/2'' tall and the band tapers slightly in the back.

Agate was named by Greek philosopher and naturalist Theophrastus sometime between the 3rd and 4rd century BCE. He found agate in the banks of the Achates and named the stone in honor of the river. Agate can be found in a rainbow of colors but this agate is jet-black with a polished shine.
